Generation of freedom, about the film

About the "Generation of Freedom" project

For the first time about the liberation struggle - in 3D!

The "Generation of freedom" project aims to broadly cover the events of the First Liberation Movement of 1917-1921 through the memoirs of its direct participants.

We are currently working on the first part.

Work on the memoirs began in late 2015. Among the authors whose texts may become the basis for the script:

Mykola Halagan,

Stepan Samoilenko,

Osip Stanimir,

Vasyl Prokhoda,

Dmytro Doroshenko,

Boris Monkiewicz,

Vsevolod Petriv,

Victor Zelinsky,

Mykhailo Omelyanovych-Pavlenko,

Yakym Khrystych

and many others.

A whole generation of people who fought for the freedom of Ukraine in the first half of the twentieth century described to us the history of Ukraine's revival, the social and political mechanisms of the formation of Ukrainian statehood, the history of the formation of the army, its defeats and victories, social processes in the country, and the fates of people who led others.

The material of memories from 1917-1918 alone, collected over several months, deserves hours of screen time.

However, our resources to create a movie are quite limited. Therefore, it was decided to start by creating a short documentary film "Generation of freedom. The First Liberation Struggle", which would cover the general picture of the historical period.

Currently, we are working on the script of the film, and conducting creative experiments to find the appropriate style of image.

Already at the current stage of work, there is a significant lack of high-quality photographs from the period of 1917-1918. If anyone would like to help us in this or any other way, please contact us by e-mail.

Upon completion of this project, the possibility of continuing it and creating additional films in the Generation of Will series, which will focus on individual episodes of the First Liberation Struggle, will be considered.
