We have released a new historical short dedicated to Symon Petliura (1879–1926) — one of the central figures of Ukraine’s struggle for independence in the early 20th century.

The video presents Petliura’s life as a visual journey through twelve key stages: from his childhood in Poltava and years as a rebellious seminarian, to his work as a journalist, political organizer, wartime figure, military leader, head of the Directory of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, and statesman in exile.

Using cinematic AI-generated historical scenes, the short follows the transformation of a young man shaped by books, ideas, revolution, and war into one of the most recognizable leaders of the Ukrainian national movement.

Симон Петлюра — шлях

The project focuses not only on political events, but also on atmosphere: Poltava childhood, seminary years, Kyiv of 1917, military organization, command rooms, public gatherings, and the quiet years of exile. Each image was designed to evoke the visual world of Petliura’s era — from village life and student circles to the turbulence of revolution and the Ukrainian struggle for statehood.

This short is part of our ongoing visual history series, where historical figures and events are reimagined through cinematic imagery.

Watch the video and follow the journey of Symon Petliura through one of the most dramatic periods in Ukrainian history.
